Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying protection systems and implementing penalties," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes overnight. A young boy lost their life and three other people were injured.

The attacks come after nights of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was intentionally trying to damage the national power system, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
